DEAR EDITOR,
I am a resident of Timehri and I would like to voice my concern about the performance of the police in this community.
I have a daughter working at the airport and she complains daily about the wrongs committed by those criminal elements that live in the squatting area at Timehri. The police turn a blind eye to the situation since they are friends of these characters.
Mr. Commissioner, please ask the people in the area and they will tell you that your ranks and the rogues are in league.
Every day passengers are bugged and robbed by persons loitering in the area and all this takes place in the eyes of the police.
The police can be found drinking and liming with the same thugs in the evening; how then can they move to arrest these persons?
The police are aware of all those that are involved in criminal activities at Timehri yet they do not do anything about this situation.
I am pleading with the Commissioner of Police to respond to the cries of the public and avoid embarrassment. What happened to the man that stole the airport property?
Why is he allowed to walk freely and has not been charged? What about the army fuel that he bought? This is not the first time that this man is involved in such activities.
Every day there are many thieves loitering at the airport and all the police do is harass those that they can take advantage of while those criminal-minded persons are allowed to roam freely.
I plead with you Commissioner to heed my advice and conduct a serious examination of the ranks assigned to the Timehri Police Station. We must stop this corruption and let the people have confidence in the police.
Concerned Resident
