Fresh off their recent success in the Noble House Seafoods Indoor Hockey
Tournament Old Fort ‘A’ despite having to withstand a stern challenge from the national Under-21 team going by the sobriquet Shakatan got off to a positive start in the Banks DIH Night Competition with a 2-1 win last Monday at the Thirst Park ground.
Old Fort ‘A’ who fell behind after Raphael DeGroot gave Shakatan the lead rebounded through goals from the in-form John Abrahams and Aderemi Simon to squeeze a victory.
Their ‘B’ unit was also in winners’ row recording a convincing 5-1 triumph against Degenerates, a team made up of past national players.
On target for the winners were Teon Joaquin with a brace, while Tony Cole, Robert Hussein and Delon Williams each netted a single strike. Sheldon Corlette made the lone response for Degenerates.
Everest Hikers ‘A’ edged GCC ‘A’ 1-0 through an early goal that came off the stick of Robert France. GCC ‘A’ was missing the services of Captain Phillip Fernandes and Devin Hooper.
In the lone Ladies encounter, GCC Tigers romped to an easy 2-0 win over Hikers Divas with Tricia Fiedtkou and Alysa Xavier, the players on target.
