Ulric Harris will attempt to be the first to etch his name on the Metro Lien Trophy when scrabble players start afresh to vie for this prestigious trophy at the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) tournament on Sunday.
Harris carted off the trophy after winning three successive tournaments, the required amount of liens needed to own the trophy. National champion, Fred Collins and William Woolford with two liens apiece were the others in hot contention for such honours.
This tournament is held twice a year. The executive is asking all participants to register early for the tournament as there will be a prompt 10:00hrs start.
Meanwhile, GASP will convene a meeting for all of its members on Thursday October 2 at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas Lands.
Among the important issues to be discussed are the requirements pertaining to tournaments, adherence to the rules and the lax attitude of members on tournament day. The meeting will convene at 19:00hrs sharp.
