– aims at inclusiveness
The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) will be hosting an interactive session tonight from 7:00pm at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with all affiliate clubs to discuss the way forward for the sport in the ‘Garden City’.
Contacted yesterday, GABA Secretary, Robert ‘Bobby’ Cadogan told Kaieteur Sport that the event is basically being held for clubs to have an input into the vision of the new Executive so that they can work as a team.
“We basically want to know how clubs feel about the new Executive and for them to vent any displeasure [if any] so that they can be addressed. It’s basically a ‘getting to know’ session,” Cadogan informed.
In a document outlining the association’s programme for the last quarter of this year, the interactive forum was erroneously printed as October 24. This paper learnt yesterday that the author really meant today [September 24].
The motive of the current GABA management is to reverse what they perceived to be an exclusive trend inherent in the previous body. It is the view of the new Executive that the way forward is to include all stakeholders.
Apart from the interactive session, the GABA has also planned a ‘Retreat and Fun Day’ for clubs which is slated for next Sunday on Burnham court. The event is free and will take the form of a five–a–side knockout competition. (Edison Jefford)
