Buxton United F.C has continued their fairy tale debut season with a 1-1 draw against Determinators of Mahaica on Sunday at the B.V ground when play in the Mackeson / East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) senior league continued.
The main game also ended in a 1-1 stalemate between defending senior league champs B.V Triumph United and Golden Stars.
Junior National cricketer Clive Andries scored his third goal of the season when he pushed Buxton into the lead in the 35th minute but Determinators were able to draw level in the 71st minute through a Raymond Dow effort.
Buxton now sits at the top of the points table with 5 points, Determinators move to 2, both teams playing two games.
B.V in their first match of the league had to settle for an equal share of the points against Golden Stars after taking the lead in the 17th minute compliments of a Shawn Daniels goal, Jason Clement pulled one back for the Stars ten minutes before full time.
Rivalry is set to continue on Thursday evening at the Plaisance ground with two matches. Bakewell Buxton Stars oppose Victoria Kings in the opening clash which will be followed by a match up between home team Plaisance and Buxton United.
Action will return to the B.V ground on Sunday for two more matches. Golden Stars tackles Black Stallion from 14:00hrs while B. V will match skills with Determinators of Mahaica in the feature match up.
Buxton United (5 points), Golden Stars (4), Plaisance (3), Determinators (2) and Black Stallion (0) have all played two games to date.
Those contesting one are Ann’s Grove (3), Victoria Kings (3), Bakewell Buxton Stars (2) and B.V Triumph United (2). (Franklin Wilson)
