The female amateur boxing team scheduled to participate in the Female Pan Am Games in Trinidad and Tobago from October 1-8, received their uniforms over the weekend.
Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) President Affeeze Khan disclosed that with the help of several business persons they were able to outfit the team in beautiful blazers made in the colours of the country’s flag.
Those contributing to the cost of providing the blazers are Maurice Rajkumar, Kamal Kanhai, Amar Ali, George Humphrey and Suresh Sabnani.
The girls; Ansilla Norville, Alicia Marques, Mandessa Moses and Amanda Charles are coached by James Walcott, all out of the Harpy Eagles Gym in Albouystown.
Moses recently won a gold medal at the CABA games in Trinidad, while all the other girls are on their first outing. Marques is a find from Port Kaituma where Mark Yaw has been doing excellent work with the youngsters there.
The team leaves for Trinidad on September 27.
