The victim is going to be pursued all the way to the home of a relative but that would not be enough to save her.
The assailant would try to take his life but he would fail in the attempt.

Another fire is going to strike near the heart of the city and as has become the norm, people are going to wonder at the cause. Spontaneous combustion is going to be ruled out but that would not explain the cause of the fire. The superstitious would blame unnatural forces but the underlying cause would be carelessness.

The roads continue to be unsafe and another pedestrian would fall victim to a speeding motorist who would be under the influence.
Try as they might and passing legislation is not going to curb this problem. The solution rests in harsher sanctions and the police would be at their wits’ end to have the courts apply the appropriate sanctions.

A freak accident is going to result along the waterways. Two boats would collide and the survivors are going to claim that neither saw the other.
