Rudolph Mitchell displayed superb stamina and excellent technique to emerge winner of the 7 laps race walk staged at the inner circuit of the National Park on September 14 last.
The race was held in observance of Amerindian Heritage Month and attracted top contenders like O’Neil Joseph, who came in second and Jeremy Cornelius in third place.
Brian Roberts was the first veteran to cross the finishing line while Debidyal Harold and Maurice Fagundes occupied the second and third positions, respectively.
Donna Ramkissoon took top honours in the female category. The winners were presented with trophies and other prizes donated by Minister in the Ministry of Education, Ms Desrey Fox, Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Ms Pauline Sukhai, Speaker of the National assembly, Mr Ralph Ramkarran, AFC leader, Attorney-at-Law, Mr Raphael Trotman and a representative of Ricks and Sari Ltd.
Meanwhile, the CSTC will stage a 10 lap race walk around the Soesdyke Circuit on Sunday September 28 in commemoration of Education Month 2008. Race time is 06:30hrs.
On October 5 the CSTC will stage the “Dawn of A New Era” 6 laps race walk around the National Park at 06:30hrs.
The race will attract male and female (seniors), juniors, veterans and juveniles. All persons desirous of participating are asked to be at the starting point by 06:00hrs.
