Police have seized the weapon of a licensed firearm holder after he was arrested for shooting a man with whom he had an altercation at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara. The shooting occurred at around 21:45 hours on Tuesday night.
The victim, 25-year-old Pitval Livingstone, is currently nursing a gunshot wound to his buttocks at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Investigations have so far revealed that Livingstone and the licensed firearm holder, who also resides at Land of Canaan, were involved in an argument during which Livingstone was shot in the buttocks.
Police recovered a spent shell at the scene.
And the police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred about 18: 45 hours on Tuesday at D’Urban Street, during which Romel Samuels was attacked and robbed by a man armed with a handgun.
Samuels was shot and sustained an injury to his right knee during the incident.
According to the police, Samuels, 37, of William Street, Campbellville, was about to ride off on his motor cycle in the vicinity of Pearl’s Bakery when he was confronted by the armed man who held him up and demanded a bag that he had in his possession.
A scuffle ensued during which Samuels was shot.
His assailant escaped with the bag which contained personal documents.
Samuels was also admitted a patient at the GPHC.
