SHEDDING SOME LIGHT ON THE SITUATION..

Bill did warn you. Subtly. He hinted galore that all was not well with the lights at the Carifesta Opening and Closing Ceremonies. His ear was to the ground. Bill knew what was happening.

The intellectuals amongst my readers (both of you –Freddie K and AN Other) will have spotted the trail that led to South Wales.

Now it seems the odure has truly hit the fan .Accusation, counter accusation, Attorney General involved (Doodie’s yer man in these tight corners…) and much much talk of litigation.

All because the lights did not shine properly in the Providence Stadium for the Opening and Closing of Curryfesta. Paloma was in tears.

Bobby just livid. Whose fault was it – the people who had the contract but seemingly not the funds or the arty farties who wanted lights to, well light… their creations?

They all got involved then and now – the Minister of Yoof the good calm Doctor A, The President (Bill hears he was very cross about the lack of lights at the closing ceremony and hit his cell phone ..

Just who takes the rap is for the courts and my learned and very rich friends to decide. That will take years. Meanwhile, it’s such a pity that they all could not get it all ready on the two night(s) – ten days apart after all!! The only ones who suffered were the public.

Bill is very sad that the company from the mouth of the rivers (libel is a powerful weapon – even in Guyana) could not mesh with Una Paloma Blanca and Bobby (“one of the MCs’ they call him) to make it all happen.

Properly. Tragic cos Guyana will not get another chance to have a Carifesta Opening or Closing for a long, long while.

Guyana was on show those evenings and showed simply too much light (think of the closing fireworks-could you see anything of them beyond the stadium lights?).

Heads or assistant heads may roll and recompense be extracted but that will not make it any better for the non paying public. Somebody owes them a clear, non-legal explanation of it all. Quickly.

Meanwhile, why have persons been kicking off at Paloma Blanca? Leave the woman be! She did the best job possible in the dire circumstances. She extracted light out of the semi darkness that she had designed.
All clear now???
