New television sports programme launches tonight

Sports enthusiasts will have a chance to revel in the feats of recently crowned International Cricket Council (ICC) player of the year awardee, Shivnarine Chanderpaul at the launching of a new television series dubbed, NCN Sports Magazine, starting tonight on NCN TV Channel 11 at 21:30hrs.

The 45-minute programme will subsequently be aired every Wednesday at the same time. In a release to Kaieteur News, TV presenter, Edwin Seeraj stated that the aim of the programme is to highlight the plans, programmes and policies of the various sports associations.

He said that even though the inaugural programme deals with cricket, the producers intend to encompass all of the disciplines including football, boxing, golf, volleyball, motor-racing, netball and scrabble among others.

According to the producer, a segment of the programme will be set aside for active participation of viewers wishing to make contributions via the telephone.
