A 58-year-old woman collapsed and died at around 10:30 hrs yesterday in the compound of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Gomattie Ramsingh, of Grove Housing Scheme, reportedly collapsed less than ten minutes after arriving at the court to support an incarcerated relative.
Kaieteur News understands that the elderly woman was heading down the stairs when she suddenly appeared to faint.
Persons who were present attempted to revive Ramsingh while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
Eventually, a taxi driver took her to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was pronounced dead.
A nephew of Ramsingh’s said that his aunt suffers from hypertension and was on medication.
Ramsingh is survived by her only child, a daughter, two grandchildren who reside overseas, and a nephew.
