A 27-year-old labourer who is accused of setting fire to his two-bedroom wooden house was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $30,000.
The accused, Krishna Kishore, made his appearance at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Faith McGusty.
It is alleged that on August 17 last at around 12:30 hours Kishore accompanied by his wife Sharda Persaud went to their farm some distance from their home.
It was reported that Kishore had sent his wife home ahead of him but upon his return was unable to locate her.
Reports are that the man questioned his children who claimed that they had not seen their mother (Sharda).
It is alleged that the man in an angry rage deliberately set alight a mattress which led to the destruction of the house.
He was subsequently taken into police custody and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded.
His lawyers Haimraj Rajkumar and Council Dindyal were however able to secure bail yesterday.
