Mc Gill Superstars, Windsor Forest, Bell West, Cultural, Leonora, and Meten-Meer-Zorg have advanced to the next round of the West Demerara leg of the Demerara Hand-in-Hand 50 overs second division competition.
On Saturday at Cornelia, Ida McGill Superstars batting first scored 148 for the loss of six wickets in 34 overs against Independence in a game reduced to 35 overs.
Mahadeo Ramotar 35 not out and Ramesh Persaud 20 were the principal contributors.
For Independence, Campton Melurne picked up 2 wickets for 15 runs in four overs.
Independence were 131 all out in 33.1 overs in their run chase. Kishan Shivgobin offered some resistance scoring 40.
Gangaran Lochan picked up 3 wickers for 20 in seven overs while Gagdesh Balgobin coped 3 heads for 22 in 6.1 overs.
On Sunday in a high scoring encounter, Crane amassed 206 all out in 34.1 overs against Windsor Forest. Windsor Forest were equal to the challenge however, reaching 207 in 34.1 overs with Mohan Ram Chetram scoring a blistering 92 not out.
On Saturday, Bell West were 130 all out in 25 overs against Evergreen in a 50-overs contest. Evergreen were bundled out 106 all out in 19 overs.
On Sunday, Canal # 2 Sports Club scored 124 all out in 20.5 overs. First Division campaigner Kellon Merchant could have only managed 35 while Anthony Ifill contributed 45. Avinash Sookdeo was the demolisher for Cultural grabbing 4 victims for 18 runs from his 5 overs.
Cultural cruised to 125 for 2 in 17.2 overs with Sasenarine scoring 60 not out.
Mahendra Pratabji had the two wickets for 12 runs in his 2 overs for Canal # two.
Also Sunday, Leonora scored 128 for the fall of 8 wickets in 30 overs. Prem Persaud made 54 not out. Bisram Thomas was the thorn in the flesh for Leonora with 6 victims for only eleven runs in 6 overs.
Cornelia Ida stumbled to 101 all out in 25.3 overs. Imtiaz Hack was left unbeaten on 36.
Rakesh Singh was the main cause of the fall of C.I with his 5 wickets for 15 runs in 5.3 overs.
On Sunday, Meten-Meer-Zorg West scored 116 to defeat Zeeburg who made only 115 batting first.
