The two men Lennox Charles and Agustine Van Cooten made their appearance yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, before Acting Chief Magistrates Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that between April 14 and 15 of this year, the two men broke and entered the cold storage bond of Wieting and Richter and stole a quantity of items, including sausages, ice cream and other food items totaling $1.4 million.
The charge was indictable and neither of the accused was required to plead.
Their lawyer told the court that the charge was placed on the men because they were the security guards on duty the night when the items went missing. The court was told that the security firm for which the men work has since reimbursed the company. However, bail was not objected to and the men are expected to make their next court appearance on September 15.
