The remaining quarter-finals of the Banks DIH Guyana Softball League 15 overs softball cricket tournament will be played under lights at Thirst Park from 17.30hrs tomorrow with two matches.
The first match will see Rocky’s XI playing La Jalousie Estate’s XI, while Country Side’s XI battle Boom Blast’s XI of West Coast.
According to a press release from the organizers, the opening match promises to be challenging one for La Jalousie Estate’s XI since Rocky’s XI is on a roll having just won the trophy Stall competition and being unbeaten in this tournament.
La Jalousie Estate’s X1 on the other hand have been improving and hope to spring a surprise on Rocky’s XI with most of their matches ‘going down to the wire’ against top teams.
Rocky’s XI have in their line-up experienced openers Amrit ‘Rocky’ Jairam who won the game last Friday night with a belligerent 89 and Azad Azeez. They should be supported Balbinder Persaud, Asif Ahmad and Beharry Rambharose.
The bowling will be led by Davendra Khusial and Rambharose with support from Asif Ahmad and Amrit Jairam.
La Jalousie Estate’s X1 have in their line-up the in-form Gobin Hansraj who has a fifty in the competition.
He should be supported by Tulsieram Pariah who has a hundred in this competition and also their Captain Ryan Boodhoo who has scores of 99, 87 and 56 to date. Kellawan Tulkan also has the ability to change the game at anytime if he gets going.
The bowling will be led by the experienced Dudnauth Dhanraj and his sibling Bisham Dhanraj with support from Gobin Hansraj and Kellawan Tulkan.
The second match also promises to be an exciting affair with both teams looking to advance to the semis having played unbeaten in the competition so far.
Country side’s XI will have in their line up former national under-19 player Krishna Deosarran who is back from the Trinidad leagues.
He is expected to shoulder batting responsibilities while his brother Jagdesh Deosarran can be relied on for solid support.
They will be backed up by Davanand Samaroo, Sakichan Jagdeo and Rushie Samaroo.
The bowling will be led by Roy Seebarran and Richard Gomes with support from Riaz Hanif and Sakichan Jagdeo.
The Boom Blast batting will be led by Ritchie ‘Tsunami’ Reddy, a left-handed batsman who can tear any bowling apart with support from Ramotar Ramroop, Akash Sripaul and Shazam Balgobin.
Their bowling will be led by Ramotar Ramroop and Richard Ramdhan and supported by Akash Sirpaul and Surrendra Persaud.
