Mike Mangal playing off an 8 handicap recorded a gross 75 to end with a net 67 to win last Saturday’s Sunburst Orange Juice Medal Play Golf tournament sponsored by Continental Group of Companies and played at the Lusignan Golf Course.

Chatterpaul Deo (handicap 13) returned to form to clinch the second position with a net 68. He had a gross score of 81.
There was a close battle for third position with Esau Shamshudin edging out Dr. Ram Singh on a countback after both players ended with net scores of 69. Shamshudin (handicap) 16 recorded a gross score of 85.
Prizes were presented to top players by Percival Boyce Jr. Company Secretary of Continental Group of Companies who pledged his company’s continued support to golf.
According to Boyce, his company has been a regular contributor to the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) and will continue to contribute in the future.
Club Captain Jerome Khan thanked Continental for sponsoring the tournament which he disclosed attracted a large field of players.
The LGC programme of activities continues this weekend and according to Khan the next five weeks will be a busy period for local golfers and five major sponsors have come on board and will be sponsoring the next five weeks of competitions.
The golfers will be battling this weekend in the New GPC Inc. sponsored Medal Play tournament on Saturday. Tee off is at 12:30 hours.
