– relatives released on bail
The couple who had been in police custody assisting with investigations into the discovery of the body of 79-year-old Biphaya Sankar has been released on station bail.
Reports are that the couple was released on Friday after investigators say they don’t have enough evidence to hold them any longer.
Meanwhile, a post mortem preformed on the body has since revealed that the woman died as a result of an incise wound to the back of her neck.
Following the release of the couple, no other suspects have been detained. The couple was arrested after the police received information that they had visited the woman’s house a few hours prior to the discovery.
The couple had admitted to investigators that they visited the house but claimed that after seeing the lock on the door and calling and getting no response, they had left.
On Monday last the woman’s body was found in the upper flat of her two storey house by one of her tenants.
Meanwhile, as investigations are continuing, police are working on the theory that the woman was killed because of a property dispute.
