CYRUS GIBSON TAKES BEST SHOT PRIZECOPS Security Service made a clean sweep of the prizes at the Guyana Association of Private Security Organisations (GAPSO) annual Pistol Shoot competition held yesterday at the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) Ranges Eve Leary, yesterday.
COPS tallied a total of 308 points to win ahead of Professional Guard Service (PGS) 288 points with GEB taking the third place on 205 points. Banks DIH and RK’s Security Services also participated.
Winning the Best Shot Prize was Cyrus Gibson of COPS with 125 points. Sean Kirkpatrick of PGS was the runner up two points back.
COPS took first in the 5 metre shoot with 133 points followed by PGS on 127 and GEB 80. The second shoot from a similar distance was won by PGS with 120, COPS taking second two points back, while GEB mustered 107.
From the 10 metre range, COPS again was large and in charge tallying 57 points to PGS’ 41 and GEB’s 18.
In brief remarks after the event, GAPSO President Gregory Gaskin stressed the need for companies to continually work towards improving the levels of proficiency in the use of firearms through participation in competitions of a similar nature.
He also disclosed that another competition, the George Melville Memorial, will be contested later this year.
A minute’s silence was observed in memory of the late George Melville a former senior manager of COPS and secretary of the GAPSO.
