NA United, Monedderlust & Real Union are latest winners
Rivalry in the Berbice Football Association (BFA) Coca Cola Senior League is set to continue today with four matches in the Ancient County.
At the No. 5 Playfield, defending champions Monedderlust will face Cougars in the feature game at 16:00hrs, the opening at 14:00hrs features Rainbow Generation and Paradise Invaders.
At the Rosignol CDC ground, Real Union play Corentyne FC in the opening clash while home team Rosignol United oppose New Amsterdam United in the main encounter.
In recent play, New Amsterdam United (NAU) took over the lead for the first time when they gained full points without breaking a sweat after Paradise Invaders failed to show up. It was NAU’s third walk over of the competition.
In other matches, a helmet-trick by Gladwin Johnson piloted defending champions Monedderlust to a 4-0 win over Mahaicony United. Johnson found the back of the nets in the 21st, 35th, 42nd and 68th minute.
The victory now places Monedderlust third in the points table with 13 and Johnson is now the leading goal scorer with 12, ahead of the Cougars duo of Winston Benjamin and Horace Roache with 11 and 10 respectively.
At the Blairmont Settlement ground, Real Union hammered Brazilla 7-0, Delroy Deen also scoring a helmet-trick (6, 19, 27 & 41). His brother Delwyn Fraser netted in the 32nd minute while Kerwin Grant and Lindsley Angus scored in the 53rd and 70th minute to complete the rout.
The full point’s standings is as follows: NAU 19, Cougars 16, Monedderlust 13, Real Union 12, Mahaicony 12, Brazilla 9, Corentyne 6, Rosignol United 6, Rainbow Generation 3 and Paradise Invaders 1.
