Cyclist’s, young and old, who compete at the National Park circuit, are in for a treat come Saturday September 13 when the 9th annual DeSinco Group of Companies / Milkaut cycling programme is contested.
Yesterday at their Sheriff and John Streets head office, DeSinco Trading Brand Manager Padma Prashad said that this year’s event will be bigger and better.
“DeSinco Group of companies has proven by previous participation, their active and influential role in sports activities be it cricket, football, track and field, boxing, tennis, golf and other educational events around Guyana. We are always proud and honoured to play a part in inspiring our younger generation to pursue extra curricular activities and go the ‘whole nine yards’ with such commitments.”
Next Saturday’s programme will see riders competing in the BMX, upright and racing cycle categories taking on each other for the top prizes, which includes attractive trophies. Veteran riders will also be catered for on the programme as always.

The defending champion for the feature schoolboys and novices 35-lap event is Darren Allen who won last years race in a time of 1hour 28 minutes 25.17 seconds. Allen has not been at his best for a number of months and will be hard pressed to retain the number one spot in this race.
Among those who will be challenging him is last year’s juvenile winner Christopher Holder, fellow juniors Geron Williams, Enzo Matthews, Chris Persaud and Daniel Ramchurejee.
Other seniors in contention are undisputed sprint king Alonzo Greaves, Lear Nunes, Kennard Lovell, John Charles, Robin Persaud, Junior Niles and Warren Mc Kay among others.
All the competitors will receive free Milkaut compliments of DeSinco Group of companies at the end of the event. Milkaut is a brand of UHT milk from Argentina and is available in Whole and Partially Skimmed variants.
Organizer Hassan Mohamed, who has been promoting cycling at the National Park for the past 32-years unbroken and responsible in some way shape or form for the development of all of Guyana’s top riders, said he was very grateful to DeSinco Trading for their continued commitment towards the development of cycling in Guyana.
“We are very grateful to see that DeSinco has stepped up to make this event bigger this year and hopefully, it should be bigger in the 10th year. We look forward to a good day of competition.”
