Guyana lost their friendly international to Trinidad and Tobago by a 3-0 margin yesterday.
Both teams were using the contest as preparation for upcoming engagements. Trinidad for their World Cup Qualifying fixture against Guatemala over the weekend, while Guyana for their Digicel Caribbean Championship second round outing.
It was disclosed that Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz was not fully enthused by his charges showing, but expressed pleasure at the performances of several of the younger players he fielded during the encounter.
It was disclosed that Shabazz felt his team could have played much better but they did not apply themselves as they should. Goalkeeper Ranson Williams along with midfielder Philbert Moffatt and Dwayne Jacobs were among those who came in for special mention for their efforts and outstanding mode of play despite the scoreline.
Guyana have much work to do ahead of their Digicel CC second round and will be happy to welcome several players who did not take part in this game due to other commitments headed by Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, who plundered a hat-trick on Tuesday in the CONCACAF Champions League in the United States against New England playing for T&T club side Joe Public.
