DEAR EDITOR,
I respond to the letter signed “Concern Guyanese”.
I agree with every thing said about a united front for our country, but it won’t be healthy politically to have a one-party state.
Instead, we can have a party that caters equally with regards to race; a party that concerns itself with the ability and talent of every child, whether academically-inclined or not.
We can be a great nation if we put our differences aside and be one from the same land. We need to start from childhood teaching the youths from now about national pride.
Let’s look at how others are proud when representing their country.
The people need help as well from a Government that is willing to put more resources into education, with a difference not just for academics, but also for creative children who can excel in their natural ability, be it in art, sports, or whatever.
We need these facilities in place for children to choose which career they would like to pursue. I know for a fact that if children try various things when they are young, they tend to gravitate towards at least one when older.
If we, the people, have a pressure group to push the leaders of our country to listen, maybe, just maybe, we will have the next two generations having the choices we never had.
