A South Ruimveldt resident was yesterday charged with unlawfully wounding his wife, Michelle Bollers.
The accused, Jermyne Stiffle, is alleged to have committed the act on August 28.
He was represented by Attorney at Law Vic Puran, who told the court that his client is 32 years old and is self-employed as a clothes vendor.
The lawyer said that Stiffle has two children with Bollers.
According to the attorney, the two were at home in the midst of an ‘adult activity’ when Bollers’ phone rang and she answered it.
Puran told the court that his client told his wife that she could have waited until they were finished their ‘activity’.
An argument ensued between the two, and the lawyer claimed that his client’s spouse accidentally hit her head on the bed-post.
Police Prosecutor Sherwin Matthews interjected and told the court that he had another version of the story.
He said that Stiffle and Bollers are separated and Stiffle’s spouse now has another relationship with someone else.
The prosecutor said that Stiffle had visited the home to speak with Bollers, and while talking her phone rang.
According to the Prosecutor, Bollers insisted that she answer her phone. This annoyed the accused, who picked up a knife and cut Bollers’ hair and cut her about her body.
Stiffle’s lawyer, Vic Puran, pointed out that if Bollers had been cut, the doctor would have seen the laceration.
Stiffle was granted bail in the sum of $25,000. The matter is to reconvene on October 3.
