The quarter-finals of the Banks DIH 15-over Softball cricket tournament bowls off under lights at the Thirst Park Ground from 6.00pm this evening with two matches.
The first match will see Regal XI coming up against Den Amstel XI, while Rangers challenge Trophy Stall XI in the second game.
The first match promises to be a challenging one for Regal XI with Den Amstel being the surprise package in this tournament, losing just once in the preliminary rounds and holding its own against the top teams. For Regal XI, they would like to maintain their winning ways against West Coast Teams having just defeated Rangers last Friday night at the same venue.
They have in their line-up the experience of the openers Zulfikar Ali and Kapil Deo who will be supported by Raymond Harper, Khalid Haslim, Mahendra Arjune and Mahesh Chunilall. The bowling will be led by Lakeram Roopnarine (best bowler on show last Friday night) and he will be supported by the all rounders Arjune, Chunilall and Harper.
Den Amstel XI have Graham Miggins, who is their top batsman and he will be supported by Gregory Smith and Gerald Augustine, while the bowling features Maurice Henry with support from Smith and Augustine.
Meanwhile, the second match also promises to be an exciting affair with both teams evenly matched and both smarting from defeats on Friday night. They will look to advance in convincing fashion to quell the doubts of their followers who were in disbelief as to what transpired last Friday at the same venue.
Trophy Stall XI includes Mark ‘Rambo’ Harold, Rajin Mohamed, Mark Fung and Captain Dindial Lakhan and Randy Ketwaroo.
Rangers for their part will have Safraz Karim (best batsman last Friday night versus Regal XI) and Ameer Nizamuddeen, Reo Karim and Sanath La Channa leading the batting, whereas the bowling will be led by Kristendial Persaud and supported by Asif Saffie, Bisham Persaud, Dudnauth Narine and Lakeram Champalall.
