The police are maintaining their vigilance even as Carifesta concluded last weekend, arresting a suspicious character on whom they recovered an illegal .22 pistol with matching rounds.
A press release from Eve Leary stated that at about 23:25 on Monday ranks on a mobile patrol operating in the Bourda Market area stopped and searched the man who appeared to be acting suspiciously.
The weapon was found concealed on his person.
Charges will be instituted shortly.
