Neal & Massy 1st division cricket…Carmichael’s fifty fails to save TSC from defeat against MSC

Former National under-19 all-rounder Kelon Carmichael stroked four fours and two sixes in a commanding 54, but Orin Forde responded with 49 and 2-19 to see Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) to a six-wicket win against Transport Sports Club on Sunday at Bourda in the latest action in the Neal & Massy first division 40-overs cricket competition.

The versatile Carmichael put aside his disappointment of his surprise non-selection for tomorrow’s Demerara one-day trial match at Everest and batted with consummate ease on a slow track as TSC reached 148-8 off their allotted 40 as only Devon Nandan (27) and Travis Blyden (17) offered support to Carmichael.

Demerara under-17 fast bowler Seon Daniels bowled impressively and took 3-14 while Forde, a member of Guyana’s inaugural Stanford 20/20 championship winning squad, supported the lively Daniels with 2-19.

Forde then cleared the boundary four times as MSC galloped to 149-4 as West Indies under-19 all-rounder Steven Jacobs (28) and Imran Hassan (24) all chipped in to set their team on course for victory against their Thomas Lands neighbours.

Leg-spinner Blyden took 2-22 while off-spinner Kevin Ross and medium pacer Blyden had a wicket each in a losing cause as MSC notched up their second consecutive win over the weekend after they beat host GCC the day before. (Sean Devers)
