Girl, 9, perishes after falling into school outhouse

The first day of the new school year got off to a horrific start when a nine-year old girl perished after falling into her school’s outhouse at the Kumaka/Moruka Primary School in the North West District.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that Tanesha De Souza died while receiving treatment at the Moruka Hospital.
Police say that about 09:00 hours, De Souza went to answer a call of nature. She was accompanied by another student who waited outside. Screams were subsequently heard coming from De Souza and an alarm was raised.
But by the time elders rushed to the scene it was already too late.
The nine-year-old was taken out from the pit and rushed to the Moruka Hospital where she eventually succumbed.
