– Enterprise Road Safety Association
With school re-opening today, the Enterprise Road Safety Association is appealing to parents and teachers to insist that students use pedestrian crossings wherever possible, to ensure that no more children are killed as a result of road accidents.
The association is also calling on motorists to obey traffic signs, especially those in the school areas.
Yesterday, the association repainted a number of pedestrian crossings and other road signs, which they hope will assist in reducing road fatalities, especially on the East Coast of Demerara.
According to the association’s president, Chandrapaul Persaud, the body has been carrying out this type of activity for the past 30 years.
He said that funds for such activities are garnered from donations from members and other supportive residents.
“With school opening tomorrow (today), we decided to repaint these signs so that there will be no excuse for not using the road in a proper manner,” he told this newspaper.
– The Enterprise Road Safety Association was established over 30 years ago, and has been doing several charitable works along the East Coast of Demerara.
