Following appearances at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, two men have been refused bail after they were charged separately for different sexual offences.
First making his appearance was Terrence Anthony Kennedy, who was charged with carnal knowledge. The charge was read to the accused by Magistrate Priya Beharry.
It is alleged that on February 2, at Mc Doom, Port Kaituma, in the North West District, he had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.
The charge was indictable and the accused was not required to plea.
Bail was refused and Kennedy is expected to make his next court appearance on October 7 at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Also, yesterday, 30-year-old Lionel Michael appeared before the same magistrate, charged with rape.
It is alleged that on Friday, May 13, at Bel Air Village, East Coast Demerara, he had sex with a 19-year-old female without her consent. The charge was indictable and the accused was not required to plea. Michael will make his next court appearance on September 22.
