A heavy downpour failed to deter Desmond Allen who staunchly braved the elements to capture the 10 laps Junior Race Walk around the Soesdyke Circuit, and the prize put up by Giftland Office Max, on August 24 last. Lloyd Rodney and Desmond McClean placed second and third respectively.
Madonna Benjamin finished first for the women while Cassie Vyphuis and Calisa Correira occupied the second and third places respectively.
The winners received their prizes from representatives of the sponsors as well as the Director of Wisroc Investment Inc, John Nedd.
Earlier, on August 20 the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club, as part of its 4th race walk month of activities staged a 5-lap junior race walk around Soesdyke. The sponsors for that event were the Guyana Beverage Company and Continental Agencies Ltd.
Cassie Hope won that race while Sheenza Lloyd and Calisa Correira came in second and third, respectively. For the boys Stephen Taylor came in ahead of Nyron Vyphuis and Joseph Rodney.
The next planned event is the 15 laps Juniors Carifesta X/Back to School Race Walk will be staged tomorrow around the Soesdyke Circuit commencing at 06:30hrs. The winners will receive trophies and other prizes.
