DEAR EDITOR,
In the year 2005 the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) made a decision to open offices in each region.
Vacancies were advertised to fill positions in each office, which did happen, but GECOM did not stick to the advertisement.
There were people in some offices who did not possess the necessary requirements, five CXC/GCE, and working experience.
However, a lot of these staff members knew people from the organisation. Of course there were evaluations, but the best score for each position wasn’t rewarded.
Could someone say if the same thing will happen again? This time around it’s 5 CXC/GCE and two years’ working experience.
GECOM please stick to your advertisement.
