Local golfers will have a fun-filled weekend with two major tournaments planned for this weekend at the Lusignan Golf Club on the East Coast of Demerara.
On Saturday, the annual Macorp sponsored Medal Play tournament will tee off. President of the LGC disclosed that a large field of golfers is expected to participate in this weekend’s tournaments as the course in once again in top shape after the recent inclement weather had left the Course in a soggy state.
The field will include the in-form Patrick Prashad, Ian Gouveia, Colin Ming, Imran Khan, Mike Mangal, Brian Glasford, Lester Alvis, Clifford Reis, Carlos Adams, Melissa Humphrey, Avinda Kishore, Bolaram Deo, Christine Sukhram, Maurice Solomon, Brian Hackett, Gavin Todd, M. Lashley and Albert Semple.
Registration will close on Friday at 16:00 hours and interested players can register by calling the bar at telephone number 220-5660. Assembly time is 12:20 for a briefing before the actual Tee off.
Officials of Macorp are expected to be on hand to assist with the distribution of prizes at the end of the tournament.
On Sunday, long awaited Greensome tournament and fund-raising Bar-B-Que will take place. The tournament will get cracking at 08:30 hours.
Meanwhile, Prashad won last weekend’s Club tournament with a net 72. Sankies secured the second position on count-back from Kishore after both golfers had secured net scores of 74.
