The social education feature of the Abdulla Hamid Basketball Foundation’s (AHBF) Summer Programme continued when Social Educator and Counsellor, Trudyann Scott was invited to address the participants.
Founder of AHBF, Abdulla Hamid, told Kaieteur Sport briefly yesterday that Scott, who is a Counsellor at the Vivienne Parris Health Centre, spoke on topical issues relating to child abuse, molestation and teenage pregnancy.
The Foundation had invited Police Officer, Anthony White also last week to speak on the various levels of crime in society and how to avoid criminal activities.
Hamid had promised that White and Scott would be part of the 2008 schedule of the programme in an effort to build more complete players that will function on both the basketball court and in society.
The eight–week summer programme, which will conclude at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) court on Saturday, sought to teach the more than 60 children the fundamentals of the game among other basketball techniques.
The camp is its 18th year and has produced such national players as Steve Neils Jr. and Marvin Hartman among a host of junior national players including Akeem Khanai–a recently promoted Division One player for Jets.
