Trophy Stall cricket final set for Friday at Thirst Park under lights
Amrit ‘Rocky’ Jairam
The eagerly anticipated final of the Trophy Stall 15-over Softball Cricket Tournament will be contested between Rocky XI of West Coast and Trophy Stall XI of the East Coast under floodlights at the Banks DIH ground, Thirst Park beginning at 5:30pm Friday.
Both teams have played unbeaten in the tournament and it is the most talked about final as a keen contest is expected.
Rocky XI has a strong batting line up with veteran softball player and Captain Amrit ‘Rocky’ Jairam leading them in this department, with plenty of support from the likes of Demerara under -19 player Balbinder Persaud who has an average of over 50 in this form of the game.
There will also be support from the dependable David Allen who has been in fine form and has only been dismissed 3 times in 16 innings at the crease and the left handed opening bat Azad Azeez.
A lot will be expected from the evergreen Asif Mohamed who in tandem with the former has taken Rocky XI out of danger on many occasions.
The bowling will lean heavily on Davendra Khusial who has the ability to rip the heart out of opposing teams’ batting.
He will be supported by the all rounder Asif Mohamed and David Allen, who bowls left handed and will offer variety to the bowling attack as well as another left hander, Rambharose Beharry.
Meanwhile, Trophy Stall XI will look to the in form Mark “Rambo” Harold who has three centuries to his name in this competition and will seek his 4th, support will come from openers Rajin Mohamed, Captain Dindial Lakhan, veterans Mark Fung and Randy Ketwaroo.
Their bowling will be led by Captain Dindial Lakhan, who has been very economical in this form of the game and along with the wily Mark Fung.
They will be supported by Rajin Mohamed, who can bowl fast and can be devastating when he gets it right, with support from Gary Singh.

Managing Director of Trophy Stall and tournament sponsor Mr. Ramesh Sunich will be on hand to meet the teams before the start of play.
