Suspect held in watchman’s murder

– ‘vagrant killer’ still at large

Police have detained a suspect in the murder of watchman Bissoondyal Mangar, whose battered body was found Monday in a yard at North Road, Bourda.
An official said that detectives, acting on information, detained the suspect on the same day that Mangar was slain. However, the official declined to say what evidence investigators may have to link the man to the crime.
Mangar was found lying on a mattress in the yard of a private medical practitioner.
The man’s body bore a gaping wound to the head, and was covered in blood.
A bloodstained piece of wood was found near the body.
Kaieteur News understands that the watchman’s pockets were turned inside out.
Meanwhile, police are still trying to locate the mentally ill man who is a prime suspect in the murders of 25-year-old Alecia Roberts and 39-year-old Kamow Adamale, who were clubbed to death last week.
Police say the suspect is brown in complexion and roams the street while carrying a club.
Roberts, who was of unsound mind, was beaten to death last week Wednesday while sleeping on a bench in Camp Street.
Adamale, a former soldier who became a drug addict, was slain in the same manner on Friday while lying on a stall in America and Longden Streets.
