At approximately 21:25hrs on Saturday night, 71-year-old Maurice Mack Singh was attacked and robbed by three men on the West Ruimveldt Front Road.
At the time, Singh was on his way to work at the Central Electronics store on Robb Street, where he works as a security guard.
According to the pensioner, he was on his bicycle, and as he was approaching the Ebenezar Church, he saw three men appear in front of him.
The man said one of the men hit him in his face, resulting in him falling off his bicycle.
The bandits then took away his bicycle, his wedding band worth $5,000, and $1,250 in cash.
Singh said that he uses the same route almost every night to go to work, and this is the first time that he has been robbed. He said that even though the street is poorly lit, he still managed to recognize that the three bandits were youths.
Singh is very traumatized over the incident, and wants the residents in West Ruimveldt to be on the alert, as they could also fall prey to bandits.
