A man from Queenstown on the Essequibo Coast was pronounced dead on arrival at the Suddie Hospital on Friday after he was crushed by a fallen tree.
Reports are that the incident occurred around 13:30 hours, at Patow Aripico, which is located in the Upper Pomeroon River.
Kaieteur News was told Lloyd Charles, who is a chainsaw operator, was at the time cutting wood in a forest location when the incident occurred.
Reports are that the time there was heavy wind and it was raining which may have caused the tree to fall.
This newspaper was told that as Charles was cutting wood the tree fell, striking him on the head and pinning him to the ground.
After persons around the area heard screams they went to enquire of its origin only to find Charles’s mangled body trapped under the fallen tree.
The injured Charles was subsequently removed from under the tree and rushed to the Suddie Hospital. The 33-year-old was however pronounced dead on arrival.
