The parents of an eight-year old boy are seeking assistance from the general public in raising funds to take their only child to India to undergo heart surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Poon, of 86 Better Hope North, East Coast Demerara, say that their son, Diego, requires an operation called a Mitral Valve repair, which includes the replacement of valves in the heart. Such an operation, surgeons have certified, cannot be done in Guyana currently.
The estimated cost of the medical procedure is US$6000 with an additional US$5000 being required for air fares for Diego and his mother.
The trip will be facilitated by the Three Rivers Kids Foundation Inc. of Guyana. Donors could deposit their contributions in Account # 111211 at Scotiabank.
Contributors can also contact Mr. Naresh Jairam, President of Three Rivers Kids Foundation Inc. at 199 Fourth Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, or telephone # (592) 225-7886.
