The bandit, who relieved two separate men of a chain and a quantity of cash on Church Street, before being shot in the arm on Friday last, was apprehended by police ranks yesterday.
The suspect is presently lying in the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), under police guard.
He is nursing a gunshot to the arm which he sustained while trying to make his escape after snatching the money and the chain.
On Friday last, the criminal snatched a chain from a man on Church Street, near to Austin’s Bookstore, before relieving another man of some money.
As he made his escape, a friend of the man whose money was taken, a plain clothes detective, took off in hot pursuit of the robber.
According to bystanders, the detective discharged six rounds at the thief, hitting him once in the arm. However, only four spent shells were recovered from the scene of the crime.
Despite his injuries, the criminal made his was through the Globe Yard on Waterloo Street, and proceeded to scale numerous fences as he made his escape.
