Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton has refused bail for a Kitty man who was found with a pistol and matching rounds in his possession.
The accused, 21-year-old Dellon Matthews, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
It is alleged that on August 17 he had in his possession one pistol along with four matching rounds without being the holder of a valid firearm license. To the charge Matthews, who lives at 59 William Street Kitty, pleaded not guilty. He was unrepresented.
Police Prosecutor Robert Clement asked that bail be refused. Clement told the court that the accused was arrested before but give investigators a wrong address and as such they had difficulty locating him.
The court was also told that the accused on the day in question was seen taking the weapon from his pants waist and throwing it away.
As such bail was refused and Matthews is expected to make his next court appearance on December 16.
