Georgetown Football Club (GFC) posted their seconded win in as many matches when play in the Chubby under-14 league organised by the Georgetown Football Association and sponsored by Guyana Beverage Inc. continued yesterday at the Tucville ground.
Also recording victory were Fruta Conquerors, Renaissance and Strike Again, all by a 1-0 margin over Rhythm Squad, Flamingo and Assembly of God respectively.
Sunburst Camptown were held to their second draw (0-0) in as many matches by Thomas United.
GFC with the win has taken over the top spot in group A with 6 points followed by Conquerors with 4, Santos remaining on 3.
The young Bourda boys were solid against a good Santos side and got their goals from Adonie Parbhoo and Notalon Martin. Santos’ lone strike came off the boot of Kevon Leote, his 2nd of the competition.
Conquerors’ Romelo Fraser netted their winning goal against Rhythm Squad 3 minutes before full time in what was an intense match up. But the young Fruta lads kept their nerves to hit in the winner at the death.
Selwyn Williams with a powerful left foot shot on the run, sealed full points for Renaissance who dominated their game against Flamingo and now lead group B with 4 points, the same as Strike Again. Camptown again found scoring a tough possibility as did Thomas United in their match up.
Strike Again who drew their first match against Flamingo were triumphant against their counterparts from Assembly of God in the day’s final game. Competition is expected to continue tomorrow at the same venue.
