Asha Hanif, the Chief Executive Officer of Stars International, in collaboration with Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel, will tonight be hosting a Pre Carifesta event billed as “A Night in India”.
The event, which gets underway at 18:30 hrs will showcase an Indian cultural buffet dinner which is intended to give the public a chance to tantalize their taste buds with traditional Indian foods.
The chef, Victor Holla, who is from Bangalore, India, promises a variety of dishes from the south and north of India.
He said that the Indian cuisine reflects hundreds of mini cultures that exist under the wider demographic boundaries of the country. He emphasised that each area is distinctive from the other and uses its own blend of spices and base ingredients.
Moreover, the crowd would be entertained by the ASPARA dance group, and also a fashion display by the coordinator Channaie Ramnarine, who said that the public could expect dances like the Indian Classical, Folk Indian, and Fusion which is a mix between Indian and western.
And in the field of fashion, Ms Hanif would be unveiling the next delegate for the Miss India Worldwide Pageant 2009.
She said that the audition began a month ago and only qualified applicants were allowed after their thorough background checking for any parents residing illegally aboard.
She stressed that such carefulness is needed to accredit the applicant for visa processing. The pageant would be held on February 14, 2009 in Dabar, South Africa.
The hotel quality assurance manager, Ms. Dianne Madray, said that the hotel is pleased to have launched a special venture for Carifesta.
She said that the hotel poolside would be transformed into a little India and she also encouraged patrons to wear their traditional clothing.
