Aug 19, 2008 Letters
DEAR EDITOR,
I note that I am one of the individuals referred to in Freddie Kissoon’s letter captioned “I expect people to disagree with commentators,” published in the Kaieteur News of August 18, 2008.
Instead of writing a rebuttal, I encourage readers to take a critical look at the letters I have written over the last several months and make their own judgements.
As well, I direct readers to the Peeping Tom column in the same August 18 edition of Kaieteur News, where the opening paragraph reads as follows: “Freddie remains one of Guyana’s most read columnists.
However, the bitterness he harbours towards certain leaders of the PPP seems to be diminishing his analysis, which over the past few months has become discredited, and in the process, has come to discredit himself”.
Mr. Kissoon can dismiss my letters, but he may wish to consider what his colleague at the Kaieteur News is saying. My reason for writing about him is very simple — to point out his “diminishing” analysis and the potential harm.
In his columns in the Chronicle in June 2003, he wrote (quite appropriately in my view) about the potential dangers of misinformation.
These days he seems to have forgotten his own earlier advice. In his letter, Mr. Kissoon mentioned my association with the Canada Guyana Forum (CGF).
I wish to state unequivocally that the views in my letters are entirely my own and are expressed in my personal capacity only.
The CGF is an independent, non-partisan organisation of individuals of diverse racial backgrounds and political beliefs, who are concerned about the welfare of Guyanese in Canada as well as those in Guyana.
I am proud to be associated with this organisation, but I only write/speak on its behalf when I am authorised to do so; and when I do, I clearly indicate this.
