All roads lead to Splashmins Fun Park today, as the Hits &
Jams Entertainment Company again adds to the further development of the local tourism and entertainment industries.
In partnership with certain corporate entities and the Tourism Ministry, the organizers promise patrons a leisure-filled treat of land and water sports’ competitions and a culmination of the crowning of a Miss Jamzone 2K8 Queen.
Patrons who dare to compete in the many people-oriented water sports and the other novelty events can win as much as $300,000.
Pulling this year’s event together will be the first taste of what the sound and lighting for CARIFESTA X will be. The New Fusion Sound Company is providing this lighting system.
Rawle Ferguson, Jamzone Director, in assuring that all is set for the much-anticipated all ‘day into night family event,’ said: “We have invested in a new multi-million-dollar sound system that was bought for CARIFESTA, but we will be giving Jamzone patrons a taste at Splashmins this Sunday.”
This new Fusion Sound Company features a system normally used at all the major concerts worldwide. Ferguson said, “We imported it from the US to up the sound system/ lighting offers on the local shores. This is not just for Carifesta, but will be the preferred sound system thereafter.”
Dessia Braithwaite, pageant coordinator, said that after almost a month of training the delegates, Lavonia Springer, Lisa Browne, Mylcha Lynch, Latoya Maraj, Francine Chase, Envanese King and Alana Thorne are ready to offer one of the more competitive showcases.
Kerwin Bollers also assures that arrangements have been made to ensure that there are no traffic jams heading to or coming from the event.
He said: “Splashmins’ officials have cleared the main access road about 300 yards from the main entrance which leads to the parking lot that accommodates about 3000 vehicles, and have also enlisted added security for the event.”
