West Berbice took first innings points from New Amsterdam/Canje in their recent drawn two-day Leslie Amsterdam under-17 inter-zone cricket competition in Berbice while the Upper Corentyne/ Central Corentyne match in the other zone was washed out earlier this week.
A release from Berbice Cricket Board member Carl Moore stated that in the match, played at the Bath ground in West Berbice, the home team fell for 119 in their first innings before dismissing the visitors for 93. West Berbice in their second innings were all out for 106 in the low scoring match.
Andrew Dennis top scored with 31while Jermaine Nicholson (15) was the only other batsman to offer token resistance as national under-15 spinner Joemal La Fleur captured 3-13. Kevin Ramdeen supported with 2-17 and Shane Sinclair 2-20.
In N/A/Canje’s first innings, Stephen DeFreitas made 17 but Rajiv Kishun (3-12), Ron Johnson (2-25) and Dennis (2-16) conspired to give their team first innings points.
When West Berbice batted a second time Rafael Estriado made 21 and Rawle Wade 16 as Jamally Odle grabbed 3-10, La Fleur 2-23, Trinson Carmichael 2-23 and Kevin Ramdeen 2-32.
