Magistrate Priya Beharry, ordered Okillo Phoenix, who was accused of stealing a bicycle to pay a fine of $25,000 with an alternative of three months in prison.
On August 13, last, the accused, Phoenix, stole Corbert Williams’s bicycle valued at $7,000 while it was parked on Camp Street.
To the charge Phoenix pleaded guilty and explained to the court that he is a deportee and lives on the streets. According to the accused he resorted to stealing the bicycle because of frustration, since he doesn’t have any money and no one wants to employ him.
