The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) is preparing to organise an inter-association U-17 cricket competition from August 21 in preparation for the Clico Inter County tournament. It was decided when the Board met on August 12 at the Everest Cricket Club.
The decision was made recognizing that the inter-county competition is scheduled to start on September 6, after a prolonged rainy season.
Arrangements are also being made to commence Zone B of the Neal & Massey 40- Overs National first division Club Competition.
When rain halted play in this competition in May, Maverick of West Demerara were leading the table having won their three games played. East Coast 1st Division and Canal # 2 Cricket Club were trailing with two wins from their three games.
The Board has also made arrangements for the various Associations to commence matches in the Hand In Hand Second Division 50-overs Club competition.
This competition was launched on July 3, at the end of the last season. A trilling final is anticipated in 2009 which will be the first where the sponsor will provide uniforms for teams in the final game.
The Board’s Competitions Committee will meet Tuesday, August 19 at Everest Cricket Club to determine dates and venues for these matches.
