Alonzo Greaves won the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) sponsored “Wheat Up” 65–mile cycle road race from Agricola to Loo Creek on the Linden Soesdyke Highway and back on Sunday.
Greaves who finished second last year won comfortably from Warren McKay who reportedly developed cramps. Robin Persaud finished third while defending champion, Junior Niles secured fourth.
John Persaud and Jaikarran Sukhai occupied the fifth and sixth places respectively among the seniors.
Greaves won four sprint prizes with Niles taking three while Darren Allen, McKay and Ian Jackson secured one each.
Chris Persaud was the first junior to cross the finishing line with Enzo Mathews finishing second and Michael Nelson third.
The consistent Kennard Lovell won in the veteran category from Virgil Jones and D. Ramnarine.
The winners in each category secured a Trophy and cash incentives, while cash prizes were awarded to the other top performers.
Organisers of the race Roraima Bikers Club also presented special prizes to three of their top performers with Royston Anderson capturing the senior prize, Michael Nelson the junior) and Andy Spencer the veteran.
Prizes were presented by Auto Lakeram -Finance Controller and Accountant Navin Ketwaru of NAMILCO.
