The koker door which collapsed some two weeks ago at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara, causing flooding to residents in the area, has been replaced.
All works on the koker door were executed internally by the Guyana Sugar Corporation, while engineers from the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority and representatives from the Neighbourhood Democratic Council and the community monitored the works.
Yesterday, Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud, along with a team of technical officers, inspected the newly constructed koker door.
On July 31, when the minister had visited the area following the collapse of the door, he had assured residents that the replacement would have been conducted in a timely manner.
Present during yesterday’s inspection were Dwarka Bahadur, General Manager of the LBI Estate, and Lionel Wordsworth, Chief Executive Officer (ag) of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.
